Frequently asked questions

If you have a question that is not listed, please email me at jodi@jodibermanphd.com.

Do you take insurance?

Currently I am in-network with Anthem/Blue Cross Blue Shield only.

What if you don’t accept my insurance?

If you have insurance through a company other than what is listed above, I would be considered an out-of-network (OON) provider and I require payment at the time of service. Many insurance plans will reimburse you for services with OON providers. The amount of reimbursement varies based on your plan. Contact your insurance company to determine what OON benefits you have and how much you will be reimbursed. To save time, you can also use www.mentaya.com to check your benefits.

Where are you located?

My office is located at 9 Burr Road (1st floor) in Westport, CT.

What is parking like at your office?

There is a parking lot located directly behind my office. If you park there, it is easiest to enter the building through the side entrance. You can also park on the street in front and use the front entrance.

Do you offer online therapy?

Yes, I offer both online and in person therapy.

Does it matter where I am located for online therapy?

Yes. I am only licensed in Connecticut, therefore, you must be in the state of Connecticut at the time of session.

Do you work with children or adolescents?

I only work with clients over 18. While I have worked with younger kids, my schedule does not accommodate school aged children at this time.

What is your fee?

My full fee is $225 for 45-55 minutes.

What should I expect the first session to be like?

If you’ve never been to therapy before, you may be unsure what will happen in the first session and you might even be a little nervous. That’s ok, it’s perfectly normal. During the first session, we will spend most of our time getting to know each other. I will ask you to elaborate on what brought you to therapy. I’ll ask questions to learn more about you, your relationships, and your history. I know it can be awkward to share so much with someone you have never met but I will do my best to make it as comfortable as possible. I will also share a little bit about me and how I approach therapy.

What is your approach to therapy?

My approach to therapy is collaborative. I value the therapeutic relationship and I hold respect, safety, and non-judgement at the core. We will work together to help you make the changes you are seeking. I tend to use a psychodynamic lens when understanding a person and how they relate to others. This means I will be curious about your past and how it relates to your present concerns. I will also incorporate Cognitive-Behavioral techniques.
